Power generation has got under way at Scotland's first offshore wind farm near the Solway coastline.

Severe weather conditions had hampered the progress of the Robin Rigg development in recent weeks.

However, developers E.ON confirmed that the first turbine had now started producing power off the coast of Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway.

A spokesman said there was still a "long, long way to go" before all 60 turbines at the site were operational.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the start of power generation had been put on hold due to bad weather.
