Being looking into Wood Pellet central heating to replace coal but not sure how the costs would compare.

I know its claimed that there pretty cost effective regards to fuel cost relative to other sources but wonder if anyone has first hand experience?

I have a friend who put a pellet boiler into his new property. It is located in an annex to the garage and has had some teething problems, sometimes just not coming on when it should. But generally he is pleased with it. Personally I would not want to be dependant on a fuel source that I can't make. Which Is why I would like a log boiler - one day.....

He got underfloor heating put in and (on my advice) went for high levels of wall and roof insulation and special heat retention breeze blocks for the inside of all external walls - made an amazing difference which you can feel by simply placing your hand on the walls.

He also put in solar hot water which is working quite well even in our climate.
