There is no need to build more nuclear power plants in the UK, the Centre for Alternative Energy (CAT) has said, claiming that all of the country's energy needs can come from renewables.

Alex Randall, spokesman for CAT, explained: "What we have seen in Japan shows us what can happen in a real worst-case scenario. It is expensive and has risks that come with it that renewables simply don't have."
