Seems some Brits are now extending nimbyism to a foreign field that is forever Little England.

We-e-e-ll...when it comes down to it, most wars are about Energy. Either it's a nation "on the move"
because of a shortage of food, like the Mongols, or because of a shortage of energy, like the WWII Eastern Front efforts which were an attempt to reach Soviet oilfields. Looked at that way, WTs are promoters of peace, because once built they produce energy for-the-duration, without having to go anywhere to find fuel.

Strange to relate, I once had to scatter someone's ashes at sea (she wanted to be everywhere, including with her rels in NZ). There were WTs within sight. I can't really put it into words but they certainly didn't detract from the occasion, more had a "life goes on" sort of feel.

In stark contrast I give you the scene on visiting a US Army cemetery in Northern France. The chap who showed us round was very knowledgable and respectful (only time in my life I've ever been called "Ma'am" Very Happy ) but what really detracted from the otherwise-dignifies atmosphere was a squadron of ride-on motormowers doing the rounds of the site. They made a right old racket. Perhaps they'd taken literally someone's remark about things being "loud enough to wake the dead" Twisted Evil

Compared with that, WTs are rather, well, appropriate.

Yes, cemeteries should be mowed just a couple of time a year, with a scythe, a backdrop of turbines reflecting the eternal circle.

Excellent point about the war avoiding nature of windfarms.
