Food waste is being recycled to fuel lorries at a new filling station that has opened in Lancashire. The site, near to junction 28 on the M6 in Leyland, is the UK's first compressed natural gas refuelling station to be connected to the high pressure natural gas grid, according to CNG Fuels. Kate Grant, from National Grid said anaerobic digestion plants recycle waste to create biomethane gas, which is injected into the National Grid network before being "piped out at this refuelling station".
