Covid is giving us an insight into our future, I think.
"Covid is giving us an insight into our future".... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

In what way is it "giving us an insight" other than as a sign of the political bullshit to come, (as well as the bottomless pit of hypocrisy and stupidity of the middle classes) as we fall off our industrial perch? There is precisely nothing that Covid19 has to tell us about anything other than politics.

The way that travel into city centres has been reduced by covid is one example of how a climate change mitigated culture might look: the resultant drop in the number of food outlets and other small shops required in town centres is another; the reduction in spending on other than essential "stuff" is yet another; the increase in cycling is yet another insight into the future.

The government, rather than looking at how climate mitigation is going to affect the way that we must live, is seeking to get us all back to Business As Usual and see a probably temporary reopening of all the old coffee shops and restaurants.

Rather than seeking to balance the supply of theatre tickets to the home grown demand there is the clamour to get air travel and international tourism going again although that would seem to be coming from the industries themselves rather than from a government push.

The Covid lockdown has opened a lot of people's eyes to the wide ranging effects that will come from an 80% reduction in our carbon emissions. If you can't see that, LJ, your intellect must really have been Spiked.
