Spurred out of inaction by the latest exhibition of Lycos' technical superiority, we are now embarking on a move of hosting provider. Not Before Time, I perhaps hear some of you cry.

This shouldn't have any visible effect immediately, but over the next couple of days the destination site will be being set up and systems installed to it.

When it all looks good to go, we'll be making the site (forum, specifically) here temporarily read-only to ensure database stability as we copy it to the new location. Hopefully being able to access existing postings will relieve at least some of the pangs of isolation felt by some when the site is down. Once data is all copied over, the new site will be tested and activated, then there will likely be a period of a day or so as the Rest Of The Internet catches up.

More updates on this thread as they happen.

Nope, that was Lycos doing their thing again - just as I was about to post a downtime schedule.

I almost did do the switchover while the Lycos hosting was locked, but they've brought it back quicker than they usually do.

Since the move, all signs appear to have been replaced by? anyone know why.

Not because the pound is now of questionable value surely!

That was me trying to get dates showing correctly. Are they showing as GMT+1 for you?
