Is Scotland the only country to have discovered oil off its coasts .... and then got poorer .

Unemployment in 1975 3.7%

Unemployment in 2008 9.6%

Or is it just me .... what a waste ! And then the English have the audacity to call Scots 'subsidy junkies' one has to ask who has been subsidying who ?

Why else was Margaret Thacther able to subsidise the highest unemployment rates in the developed world were it not for Scottish oil ?

There is no Scottish oil! Just oil and dollars, I'm "Scottish" so no bias. Same as Scottish salmon or beef, it's just beef and salmon. Or Scottish people, just people. Wink
