A section of the Ipsos MORI survey I did recently was about nuclear power. I think the questions were much better balanced than that. I gave the interviewer a hard time, but he seemed to make a real effort to make sure that the answers reflected my views, rather than giving the answer they wanted (if there was one).

It was an interesting exercise to go through, and there were areas where the next questions depended on a previous answer. There were also questions that made me rethink my answer to previous questions.

I think the results would greatly depend on the attitude of the interviewee. When asked to do it, I was told nuclear power may be one of the topics, which encouraged me to agree, so I guess I went into it with an agenda and some relatively detailed knowledge that may or may not be accurate. Another area that was covered was something I didn't know much about, but actually made me think carefully about things I hadn't really considered before. I can imagine some interviewees wouldn't give the answers much thought, and others might take their answers straight from their favourite newspaper.
