I would agree that the large scale use of most biofuels is wrong if it consumes food crops, or takes up land that otherwise would be used for food production.
The small scale use of biofuels may be acceptable especialy on a farm. Is growing a small amount of oil seed rape to fuel a tractor any worse then growing oats to feed horses ?
I also have reservations about large ground mounted PV arrays on land that could otherwise grow crops. No harm in regions unsuited to crops, but elswhere I feel that PV should be confined to new or existing buildings in order that no extra land is occupied.
Biofuels such as algae show some promise as they can be grown in regions unsuited for crops. _________________ "Installers and owners of emergency diesels must assume that they will have to run for a week or more" |
