Quote:
Against nuclear power in the UK

Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the ongoing crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. Germany, Italy and Switzerland have all decided to reject nuclear power. Germany's decision to exit nuclear power is based on a plan to use combined heat and power technology until enough renewable energy infrastructure is in place to provide for a truly sustainable future. We call on the UK government to follow Germany's lead by abandoning plans for ten new nuclear reactors in the UK and making arrangements to shut down all existing UK nuclear power stations as soon as possible.

It's all very well all this taking the moral high ground, but when they buy electricity (mostly nuclear generated) from France, it's a bit like crocodile tears.

Well not really, because we haven't any choice in the matter! Anyway I'm taking the moral high ground 'cause it's been raining for a week and everywhere else is under water.

Oh yes you do Wink. 2.6% according to Ecotricity's Progress Report 2011, but far better than the 17.3% national average!

Down in the Lab here at Chateau Renewable we are working on genetically-modifying Maxwell's Demon, with a view to using the resulting animal to stand guard on our mains connection rejecting all electrons that have come from nuclear power stations.
