We need something that can deliver emission reductions from existing fleets of planes and the solution already exists.

I'm not reading the article, because the headline is stupid.

Besides, I reckon articles like this should come with a big red warning sticker saying: "Caution! Advertisement!"

+1. Just don't shoot the messenger. Very Happy

From time to time, it's good to see how the 'other side' thinks. Wink

Surely keeping them on the ground is the best way to cut emissions, and turning them into homes would help with the housing problem.

At the moment (or when I wrote an essay on greening the aviation business about 6 years ago (bloody hell was it that long ago)) only about 40% of the population ever fly anywhere. So the 60% are going to have to eat expensive food so that some of our fellows can jet off to exotic climes on holiday and even fewer can go abroad on business in bio fueled aircraft.

If flying was made to pay for its environmental consequences and the infrastructure costs, currently paid for by everyone, it would be far more expensive to fly so fewer would do it. That would lead to more space in existing facilities for essential business travelers. They can afford to pay more because they can claim the fares as a business expense so higher costs shouldn't be a problem for them.

Brits. Apparently 80% of Yanks fly at least once a year.
