Ebola really brought out the worst in some people:

Public health experts involved in the response to the Ebola crisis have condemned what they described as a ludicrous, insulting and opportunistic attempt to exploit the disease for corporate gain by the world’s largest privately-held coal company.

As part of a PR offensive to rebrand coal as a “21st-century fuel” that can help solve global poverty, it has emerged that at the height of Ebola’s impact in Africa, Peabody Energy promoted its product as an answer to Africa’s devastating public health crisis.

Greg Boyce, the chief executive of Peabody, a US-based multinational with mining interests around the world, included a slide on Ebola and energy in a presentation to a coal industry conference in September last year. The slide suggested that more energy would have spurred the distribution of a hypothetical Ebola vaccine – citing as supporting evidence a University of Pennsylvania infectious disease expert.

This Kleptocracy seriously need their heads examined. I am beginning to see why the Hitlers and Stalins of the 20th century incarcerated opponents in mental institutions!

So it's just one year from when ebola was confirmed in Sierra Leone
Here's Development Secretary Justine Greening:

Ebola still in circulation in Sierra Leone.

60 cases in the last month.

Another curfew being imposed in affected regions, and jail terms for people who deliberately ignore health practices for handling victims.

This disease is at risk of becoming endemic.

At least the outbreak has triggered a lot of investment in diagnosis and treatment research.

If it does break out of Africa at this stage, the chances of containment are now much better.

Sierra Leone celebrated an important milestone on Monday, 24 August 2015. For the first time in more than a year, there are no people being treated for Ebola virus disease and no confirmed cases of Ebola in the country.

Yes, but they are making progress rather than seeing exponential increases.

UK nurse who had been treated and appeared to recover, has been re-admitted to an isolation unit.

A bit worrying.

Last known case of the Ebola outbreak has been released. The outbreak may be over.

There will probably be further outbreaks from time to time and there is more to learn about what the primary animal reservoir host may be, but we know now hot to deal with an outbreak, so this isn't the disease that will wipe the species out.

It's been very hard on the gorillas.

True, but at least people might understand it is not something made up by the doctors in order to generate funds.

Anyone know what happened to her? Her recovery isn't news I suppose!

I wonder whether, in the long run, the Zica virus will have a bigger impact on human population than Ebola.
