Suspected terrorist incident at London Bridge.

Attacker shot dead - apparently wearing a hoax suicide vest - and 2 members of the public stabbed to death reportedly.

Timing of this incident is very suspect, slap bang in the middle of an election campaign..

Indeed. It is documented that bad people who want to do bad things avoid scheduling them during election time so as not to encourage the conspiracy nutters.

Agree.
Both regarding the early release from prison of a convicted terrorist, and the prompt killing of the terrorist by the police.

There does seem to be a bit more realism about this sort of thing than in the past. I have not yet heard any criticism of the police for killing the terrorist. A few years ago we would have had calls for an enquiry into the "police shoot to kill policy" and calls to "negotiate rather than to kill"

I am also pleased to see that civilians who tackled the terrorist have been praised for their heroism. And the man who disarmed the terrorist and took his large knife some distance away has NOT been charged with having a knife in a public place.

According to the press and twitter the parole board was not consulted on the terrorist's release, it was automatic as he had served half his sentence, supposedly!

Ironically, again according to the press, the man who disarmed the terrorist is a murderer out on license!! Good for him.

As for liberal reaction to the police shooting someone, they are a bit busy electioneering at the moment so give them a day or two for it to sink in and wait for their reaction.

The parole board do what the government tell them and/or the parole board is circumvented by government regulations and/or the parole board is stocked with people who, by virtue of the selection process are temperamentally inclined to produce decisions that are in line with whomever in government designs the selection process.

In other words, the problem is not the parole board. Not in the round. It is the government. So, the next question is why the government should be allowing lunatics like this to be free?

Austerity measures and full to bursting prisons is likely to be the prosaic answer.

Beginning to look like it. Dutch police state that "it is too early to speculate on a possible terrorist motive" Which is often P.C. code for "we think it was an islamist attack, but don't want to upset the muslim community by stating this"

Would it have been better ?

I doubt it.

Half a dozen people would have been shot before someone managed to get their own gun out to kill the gunman/terrorist, instead of two.

This afternoons incident in Streatham sounds like Islamic terrorism.

Several persons wounded, reportedly with a machete and the attacker shot dead by the police.

Some eye witness reports state that the attacker was wearing a presumably fake suicide bomb.

Now stated to be an islamist terror attack.
3 persons wounded, one of whom is in a critical condition.
The terrorist was very recently released from prison after doing time for terror offences.
He was under "active police surveillance"

At least this time the sentence was appropriate.

"At the time of Amman's release there were concerns about the danger he might pose to the public but there were no legal mechanisms to keep him in prison, BBC political correspondent Chris Mason said"

Quote from news report. It seems that release after serving only half of a prison term is automatic, even if they are judged to be a risk to the public.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51356447 Link to the news report from which I quoted.

Should have been sentenced to treatment for the criminally insane, not prison. There’s no limit that way AFAIK.

Please keep on the topic of jihad and CLOSELY related matters.
I have moved a number of posts about gun control, politics of firearms laws, and use of firearms for hunting.
The moved posts may be found in the "off topic" forum.

This attack in France now looks like holy jihad.
