The link is so long, I can't read the words. Can you use the URL tool please?

I did try to show how to via a pm but I'm not good at explaining. Confused

I originally learned by quoting someone else's post that had one of these 'proxies' and examining the underlying format.

Your instruction seemed ok to me. He just hasn't bothered otherwise we would expect a question like "not quite sure what you mean, I don't get ....(whatever it is he doesn't get)....

As it is we get unreadable pages because of idleness.

I was basing it on textual evidence, not assumption. Laughing

In that case you are very judgemental, but since you have only what you see on a forum, you are stretching things a bit far to say I am unforgiving. You have little knowledge of my nature, and for all you know I could be a spambot.

It could equally be said that your assumptions about Mark's reason for not adjusting the web link are judgmental. Since you have only what you see on a forum, you are stretching things a bit far to suggest he is being idle. You have little knowledge of his nature, and for all you know he could be very busy right now.

Then again he could be being idle...... Laughing

Correct! I can only go by what you write on this forum.

I've had a look at the post with a view to editing it myself but I can't really see what is wrong with it. The post stays within the page width on my computer and the URL works so I'm not sure what the complaint is.

If the requirement is to just lose the very long URL it can be done thus

1 Type out a key word or phrase to introduce the subject of the URL. We'll say "Introduction"

2 Select the text and double click on the URL button above the text box so that you get the following

(url]Introduction(/url] (Note: I've replaced the leading square bracket with a curved one to disable the automatic functionality.)

Click between the "l" and the close square bracket of the (url] and then type an = sign to give(url=]Introduction(/url]

Then type in the URL or paste it to give

(url=http://www.sustainablebrands.com/news_and_views/cleantech/hannah_furlong/california%E2%80%99s_drought_added_2b_energy_costs_caused_10_more_em?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=businessweekly&utm_campaign=feb29&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRoluK3AZKXonjHpfsX66uwuWK62lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4ETcBlI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFTrTBMbVxyLgOXxk%3D]Introduction(/url]

With the curved brackets replaed with square ones you get this

Introduction

well done ken, you've demonstrated how to bugger up a page so it's unreadable at normal size. Rolling Eyes

Your alter-ego isn't "Mark" by any chance is it?
