An article in the Daily Kos points to a paper in Nature published by 50 researchers who have been working on the increasing loss of carbon in a positive feedback from the soil caused by global warming.

The Earth fights back to rid itself of an irritant on its surface which is destroying the fabric on life; that's us of course. In a blink of the geological eye, a few hundred thousand or maybe million years, the earth will be back to its former glorious pristine self with new species which will hopefully treat it better than we have.
