I came across this website with loads of photos of abandoned buildings & industrial infrastructure in Russia. Could be a useful resource for illustrating a plausible post-peak future for the UK, for example...

There are some fantastic photos on there - I think urban decay can be very photogenic.

Yeah, I know what you mean, although the guy obviously knows how to take a picture too.

Apols for reviving this thread but.

Here's some fascinating and beautiful-in-a-defunctive-way galleries of pictures of Gary, Indiana.

The chair nearest to it looks pretty good too. Maybe the last (or even current) occupant spent too long staring at the evil one eyed mind control device, and didn't notice what was going on around him!

I'm not sure. I originally saw it on Facebook, posted by Old Moss Woman's Secret Garden I think, and another view also turned up. She comes up with some really weird stuff! I think it's supposed to be an hotel bedroom. I think it's quite creepy.

JohnB, have a read here.

Quote:
Krugman monitored a person through many trials and found that in less than one minute of television viewing, the persons brainwaves switched from Beta waves brainwaves associated with active, logical thought to primarily Alpha waves. When the subject stopped watching television and began reading a magazine, the brainwaves reverted to Beta waves.

It all looks a bit "apocalypse porn". Kind of a high-brow aesthetic alternative to "zombie Dawn of the Dead".
