Yes.

This ends in one of two ways.

Well, either they get through or they don't. But there are multiple possible outcomes if they don't. Can't see the Mexicans letting them in though, given that they will probably then become Mexico's problem, because Trump won't let them in.

Either

they will make it to wherever it is they are going, in which case, more will follow until the place they are going is as wretched as the place they are fleeing

or

they wont make it because they will have been stopped by whatever means necessary.

One cannot blame them from trying to escape their wretched existence. Also, one cannot blame the people from the places they are running to from doing whatever is necessary to ensure they do not make it.

One side has to win and the other has to lose. Or, at least, we are all going to lose. But, some are going to lose a lot more than others. In a finite world rapidly approaching the limits to physical growth, that's just the brutal truth of it.

It is the numbers that change everything, ethically speaking. Soon enough, all pretense of ethics will be washed away to be replaced with the simpler calculations of survival.

If you go back to the Founding Fathers of the US and the Plymouth Brethren they were running from persecution. Luckily for them there weren't too many indigenous people in North America when they first arrived. As LJ says it is a numbers game now and when our civilisation dies, as all before have done, there won't be anywhere to go to with unexploited resources to build the new civilisation from. We are doomed to a very long wait for the next civilisation unless we can learn from nature and produce our needs at ambient pressure and temperature using only the sun's energy.

The estimated population of aboriginal north Americans when Europeans arrived was over 100 million. Within 50 years, the figure was less than 10%. This was the result of both lack of resistance to Eurasian diseases and deliberate persecution and genocide.

It will end with most of them in the USA.
The migrant convoy has already entered Mexico.

The era of the mass migrations has started.

In Europe you will see much of the continent conquered by Muslims from a dying middle East and North Africa.

Add in the American migrants who already live in the country.

This could just as easily end with mass killings at borders. Some countries' populations will roll over.

Some will not.

I'll accept that although with the rate of die off the migrants probably thought that there weren't many indigenous people there and in those days "savages" were of no concern anyway.

Do you mean those who migrated to the US legally or illegally or both?

I suspect that the reference was to long standing Americans obliged to relocate from areas badly hit by climate change to those areas less affected.
