So Trump's money went where it was supposed to: into the hands of those who already have too much money and didn't need it. They didn't have anything to do with it all so they put it into the stock market into already over valued stocks. They will think that they are richer until reality catches up with sentiment and the market crashes back to where it should be, back where it started in March or lower, and all that money will disappear but will still have to be paid back by the poor sodding taxpayer who will be much poorer. All so that a few kleptomaniac nutters could feel richer for a few weeks.

At least some of the UK's money, at bit more than $1000 a piece, went to somewhere it would do some good for a while.

Well the chickens are coming home to roost. GDP numbers for the US economy released today show the economy shrank by 32.9 percent for the quarter. Of course this was predictable when they told everyone to stay home and not go to work. Meanwhile due to the Feds stimulus pumping the stock market that had crashed by a third back in March has climbed back to withing four percent of the February highs. (S&P 500 numbers).
Perhaps now people will begin to understand Trump when he says we have to reopen the economy.
Yep. Trump may be a very blunt instrument. But, his targets are often the correct ones, at least within the terms of his conception of economics. Which, obviously, I see as being as long term unsustainable as any other contemporary conception. But, notwithstanding that, in terms of the here and now and economics as it still stands, what he says will make vastly more sense to the average American than anyone else

If I lived in Lancashire, and was not in a certain circle of people travelling backwards and forwards to Bangladesh and Pakistan, I would be getting hacked off.

It's just a mask, it's just on transport, it's just in shops, it's just in all indoor settings, it's just in public, it's just in your homes, it's just a vaccine, it's just one more vaccine, it's just a microchip, don't you care about others?

LJ's agenda is Spiked's agenda, Chris, whatever that is.

Meanwhile German doctors have found heart abnormalities in 78 out of 100 patients examined who were all in their 40s and 50s. So now the old, who are the only ones who suffer according to the gospel of Spiked and LJ, obviously includes the middle aged.

Supply the evidence, any legitimate scientific evidence, that a paper mask or, even more laughably, a homemade fabric mask actually prevents spread or protects against infection by these 0.1 micron diameter virus particles. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary and even the Gates-funded WHO were saying (but strangely no longer) that masks were not required in public situations for precisely the above reasons of lack of evidence.

You are not dumb. So, in the absence of evidence, but a persistence in pretending otherwise, what is your agenda?

More partial bollocks.

Who were the patients examined? Were they, by any chance, 100 of the most severely ill patients? If, so - so what. We already know that of the tiny percentage who get seriously ill with Covid 19, it almost certainly will correlate with other comorbidies, usually of the cardiovascular system. You know - the kinds of things the very elderly and frail have already got wrong with them

Meanwhile the more than 95% of everyone else........

But, in any event, what has that got to do with being muzzled in public when (a) one is non symptomatic or asymptomatic and (b) where such muzzles have precisely zero evidence to support their efficacy in preventing the spread of virus particles anyway?

Oh, and what is it with your morbid obsession with "Spiked"? Jesus wept, give it a rest. It makes you look even more desperate and pathetically lacking in any substantive argument than you already do

There's obviously two viruses in that picture. One is labelled but the other is in the bottom right hand corner between the 20kV and the 2mm. You can just see it sticking out where it has been caught in the fibre!!! Wink Smile

They haven't shown the water droplet that they must have been travelling in though. Wonder how big that would have been?

Here's the reference to the original peer reviewed paper, LJ. all the information that you could want.

It's you who are continually referring us to Spiked articles both here and on Facebook. It would seem to be your obsession not mine.

I link to many sources. You are the one who is desperate for any hook to hang on to. It's pathetic. In rhetorical terms, it's the last refuge of someone without any argument

As for the paper, I've read it. But, what it does not make clear is that the sample of people used in this study were already skewed since they were in the tiny minority of people under 75 who got ill enough to need significant medical intervention. What the study conveniently does not mention is the untold number of people of that age who got little to no symptoms at all.

More bollocks designed or, at least, certainly reported on in a manner to paint a dishonest picture of the actual statistical risk to the average person

Little John,

What are your thoughts on viral load?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viral_load

Your image does not capture the nuance of viral load.

My uneducated opinion on all things epidemyology and virology is that wearing face masks is a good idea.

I wore one yesterday whilst shopping in Lidl. I was in the minority.

I did not wear one this afternoon whilst on my fishing boat in St George's channel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_George%27s_Channel

We need to keep a sense of perspective.

Viral load is important. Viral load becomes a thing if you are in an environment where you are exposed in close proximity to people shedding a large amount of the virus. In which case, they are going to be highly symptomatic. In which case, they will be in isolation, by definition.
