I've known since 2005 that peak conventional oil had occured.
I've known that most of the shortfall in production has been made up of fracked oil.
I know that the isn't any diesel in fracked oil.
Therefore since 2005 I've known that we have reached peak diesel.
I know all the important stuff is done by diesel/fuel oil -shipping, trucking and agriculture.
It looks to me as though this virus thing is no more than a device to shut down much of the worlds shipping and trucking (an Argos catalogue of only 100 pages!!) in order to stretch out our remaining diesel for use in tractors so we all get at least a meal a day.
If that is the case it leaves me with a lovely warm feeling inside as it shows that someone, somewhere has their priorities right as we get closer to Seneca's cliff.

Welcome.
Not certain that I agree with all your points, but welcome anyway.

A Lone Voice:
I suggest you read this and other data from the EIA
Quote:
EIA estimates that global consumption of petroleum and liquid fuels averaged 94.3 million b/d in August. Liquid fuels consumption was down 8.2 million b/d from August 2019, but it was up from an average of 85.1 million b/d during the second quarter of 2020 and 93.3 million b/d in July. EIA forecasts that consumption of petroleum and liquid fuels globally will average 93.1 million b/d for all of 2020, down 8.3 million b/d from 2019, before increasing by 6.5 million b/d in 2021. EIA’s forecast for growth in 2021 is 0.5 million b/d less than in the August STEO. The downward revision is largely a result of lower expected consumption growth in China, which EIA now forecasts to grow by 1.0 million b/d in 2021.

EIA estimates that global liquid fuels production averaged 91.5 million b/d in August, down 9.7 million b/d year over year. The decline largely reflects voluntary production cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and partner countries (OPEC+), along with reductions in drilling activity and production curtailments in the United States because of low oil prices. EIA expects global liquid fuels production will rise to an annual average of 99.3 million b/d in 2021.

Hello! Not often we see a new face.

I think it is highly improbable that this is a device related to peak oil. Looks far too much like a cocked-up response to a naturally-occuring virus to be a conspiracy.

It is concerted across several Western countries. so, either it is a concerted cock up. Or, it is concerted for other reasons. The latter is less implausible than the former. Especially in the context of Brexit, Trump and other democratic rebellions occurring all over the Western capitalist system in recent years along with the response of the authorities to contain those rebellions with fake movements popping up left right and centre. But, all of these strategies, from bullshit like "bend a knee", "pussy hats", "the patriarchy", "trans rights", "me too" "extinction rebellion" "antifa", "BLM" (and others so numerous I am losing count) followed by an increasingly shrill MSM facilitating a new cold war with the East... and now virtual house arrest of significant swathes of the western citizenry... all of these tactics are prodcing diminishing returns on investment.

Pretty soon, all pretense will be over. Pretty soon, it will come down to men in uniforms with guns.

You have misunderstood where most of this is coming from (as you were supposed to). It is absolutely a conspiracy - a corrupt fraud designed to F--k up society in ways that you personally despise. That is the intention. It's intended to make you angry and drive you to despair. But it's nothing to do with the government. It's coming from academia. Specifically, it is coming from the utterly corrupt "academic" field known as "Critical Theory".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_theory

Quote:
Postmodern critical theory analyzes the fragmentation of cultural identities in order to challenge modernist-era constructs such as metanarratives, rationality, and universal truths, while politicizing social problems "by situating them in historical and cultural contexts, to implicate themselves in the process of collecting and analyzing data, and to relativize their findings."

That sentence isn't supposed to be easy to understand. It's truly sinister. It's saying that we need to bring down post-enlightenment "western civilisation", because it is unreformably delivers power to white, heterosexual men. But we can't bring it down via it's own rules and methods ("the master's tools will never destroy the master's house"), so instead it "challenges the metanarrative". That means it attacks science, reason and liberalism. It rejects honest debate. It relativises everything in order to deprive everything of meaning and power. It is designed to disempower you, in the most cynical and dishonest way possible.

Here is a recently-published book exposing the whole thing:

https://www.DODGY TAX AVOIDERS.co.uk/Cynical-Theories-Scholarship-Everything-Identity/dp/1634312023

You seriously need to read this book if you want to understand what is driving this culture war. "Cynical Theories" refers to the fact that the theories in question are deliberately, cynically designed to destroy the very culture you are trying to hold on to.

I understand critical theory and what its aims are. I also understand that Critical Theory is the tail, not the dog. Critical theory is part and parcel of the more general "social science" that was allowed to grow after the capitalist counter revolution of Thatcher and Regan as a means of containing and corralling the Left into meaningless IDPOL bollocks that changed nothing and could be manipulated whenever the need arose.

It's absolutely the dog. The tail is identity politics.

The NHS COVID-19 App launches tomorrow and aims to simplify the test, track & trace system.
The new App will allow members of the public to check into a venue and receive an alert if they have been to a premises where they may have come into contact with Corona Virus.
Designated businesses and organisations, including hospitality, close contact services and leisure venues, will be legally required to display an official NHS QR code poster once the app has been rolled out nationally.

Here’s the types of businesses that will be expected to display a poster:
https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01183/en-us?parentid=CAT-01043&rootid=CAT-01027
& a link to create and print the poster:
https://www.gov.uk/create-coronavirus-qr-poster

Could also be interpreted as another step towards a surveillance state....???

The FDA tightens standards for covid vaccine approval.

Quote:
The Food and Drug Administration is expected to spell out a tough new standard for an emergency authorization of a coronavirus vaccine as soon as this week that will make it exceedingly difficult for any vaccine to be cleared before Election Day.

This part gets me.
Quote:

As a sign the vaccine works, the agency also is likely to look for at least five severe cases of covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in the placebo group for each trial, as well as some cases of the disease in older people. These standards, plus the time it will take companies to prepare their applications and the agency to review the data, make it highly improbable any vaccine will be authorized before the election. The agency has previously said any vaccine would have to be 50 percent more effective than a placebo.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2 ... -standard/

When and if anyone in the placebo group gets the disease is not effected at all by the effectiveness of the vaccine the placebo group did not get.
So suppose it takes three months to get enough sick un-vaccinated people sick to win approval more then it took by the old rules? During that time some 700 to 800 people a day(in the US) will be dying and even a 50% effective vaccine could have saved some of them if first doses are given to those most at risks. Will the FDA take responsibility for those unnecessary deaths? I doubt it. Somehow they will say that that is Trumps fault as well.

I see American airlines has taken my" Check your bags and get your vaccine shot" idea and modified it to get you "rapid test then get on the plane to Hawaii ".
Of course when a vaccine does become available for the general public they can bump it up to my full plan. Smile
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-air ... g-program/
Quote:

United Airlines will be the first U.S. airline to roll out a COVID-19 testing program for passengers. Starting October 15, flyers from San Francisco bound for Hawaii will be given the option to order an at-home testing kit or reserve a time for a rapid test at the airport.

"We really see this as a great opportunity to provide access to testing for our customers, to get them back in the air and traveling as safely as possible," Aaron McMillan, United's managing director of operations policy and support, told CBS News transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave.

I will not volunteer for a vaccine for Covid19 and will kill or die before I am forced to have one. I am not alone.

Thanks very much but it must be well over 40 years since I gave very much credence to anything coming out of a government org. or a private company come to that. In fact, I don't trust anyone with a mortgage or a job as they all seem to have a lot of attachment to the status quo. Personally I stopped work in 1975 and immediately could see much more clearly what was going on. IMHO the British people will be looking for strong government by next Spring. Someone to make the trains run on time, that sort of thing. Sad

But was that the intention all along?
