Anybody up for a meet-up in Manchester soon to drink some beer before it's all diverted to fuel 4x4s in Florida? _________________ Andy Hunt

Yes, ideally on a weekend although I could do a weeknight at a pinch.
The other thing is it will have to be after they have finished re-laying the tram lines to Bury, so I can get home afterwards . . . should be September I think. _________________ Andy Hunt

The tram to Bury is off until 13th September apparently, so I suppose a weekend sometime after that would be best for me.
Saturday 15th September? _________________ Andy Hunt

15th sounds good except at the moment it'll just be us 3. My son had a real laugh at me before when I was talking about it. He says there'd be 10 of us in a pub somewhere discussing how to save humanity. I daren't tell him there's only 3...
(He got more interested when I told him that "come the revolution" he could carry a gun around & shoot people who tried to steal the pumpkins from our allotment).
I'm working the weekend of 29th Sept BTW. _________________ Set The Fire To The Third Bar

Well three is a crowd apparently, so there is a whole crowd of us already in Manchester!

I like your thinking. I take it you're an optimist then.
How about we PM anybody that we notice is vaguely in the North? _________________ Set The Fire To The Third Bar

Er, we never got round to sorting this did we.
I'm stil up for a meet up some time soon (not as soon as tonight tho!) I'm not free until the weekends of 20th & 27th October. Have a stint of working weekend coming up. _________________ Set The Fire To The Third Bar

How about the weekend of 20th then? It's nice drinking beer inside when there's a bit of a nip in the air outside, anyway.
Plus my OH is working that day, so we could meet up at lunchtime and happily mellow the afternoon away . . . _________________ Andy Hunt

Sounds good, will put it in my diary. I'll have to let you know closer to the time whether it would be afternoon or evening. (I have 3 kids & 2 dogs to sort out & it's too long away to arrange).
Will your OH not come & met us? I'll be bringing mine. He's already Peak Oil iniciated. Where were you thinking would be good to meet?
When are you next playing as a DJ? I'd quite like to come & see you. We've hardly been out clubbing this year so would be up for that. _________________ Set The Fire To The Third Bar

I think my OH might not come to talk about PO, she might come for the alcohol though! She knows about PO but she grew up with solid fuel heating and a family ethos of 'mend and make do', and saving things 'because that will come in handy one day', so it's quite matter-of-fact to her, and she isn't quite as obsessed with it as I am!!
I don't actually play my dancey stuff out very often, I 'fell out' with a large chunk of the local 'scene' a few years ago and never bothered to patch it up. I am not popular because I always point out that the local 'hippy' scene don't do much apart from get stoned and listen to music, the 'sustainable living' stuff which was traditionally a part of that scene has sadly gone by the wayside by and large.
But I do play out occasionally at parties with people who are on my wavelength - nothing booked at the minute but if I get anything I'll let you know. My next one is in Kent sometime, long way to go! And no date yet.
Looking forward to drinkies, should be fun! _________________ Andy Hunt

Yeah, Kent is a bit far.
Where do / did you go out clubbing? I used to go to Tangled at The Phoenix on Oxford Road, but only been once since it's moved. _________________ Set The Fire To The Third Bar

Yeah - I used to go to Tangled, some nice funky house and trance going on there. Was never that keen on the venue though, the 'scally factor' was always a bit high for me (mind you, Manchester innit!).
Where did Tangled move to? I used to go down the Music Box for trance and techno nights down there, I was involved with putting on a few nights by the name of Synergy, Relativity and Sci-Tec respectively over the years, in Club Underground (UMIST) and the Music Box. Packed it in though due to general skintness and burned-out-ness. Couple of years later decided to have a go at making my own tunes, and let other people pay for the parties in future!
Not sure where there are any decent nights in Manchester nowadays. _________________ Andy Hunt

Drinks would be fine, I'm not into any dance music tho...
