Is there anything like a 'transition town' initiative happening in London?
Starting to feel like a bit of a loony these days focusing so much on these energy / economic issues while everyone around me is ploughing into business-as-usual with the same old attitude. |

Loved reading through the blog, backwards. Right now, it really captures the essence of someone's life being turned upside down upon discovering depletion.

PS - Long shot - but are you acquainted with Ed Real? _________________ Olduvai Theory (Updated) (Reviewed)

well, there's Trans Towns Brixton as far as I know, but if you don't live there, you can't join in (that's the answer I got when approached their stall in a fair). _________________ "Things are now in motion that cannot be undone" - Good Ole Gandalf!

Interesting, I guess they're going for the the hyper-localized thing. In the meantime I've joined the North London LETS which looks promising but is all a bit fuddy-duddy at the moment - http://www.nllets.org.uk/ (they're only just migrating a cheque-book system online now)
Still, dedicated people who've already been at it 10 years, we're going to need this kind of thing if all the banks go belly-up. |

By the way, I've started doing talks on Petrocollapse / Climate Change etc. if anyone's interested... It's a heavy subject so to avoid eyes glazing over / slit wrists I'm taking a comedy angle on it with my next one. (Probably Sat 24th Jan in Mayfair, London.)
Info on the last talk on my blog here:

pm me your email if interested, I can add you to my mailing list for next time. |
